The great provincial cities like Strasbourg, Lille, Toulouse, Marseille, Lyon, Nice or Bordeaux offer the tourists a great spectrum of historical sights and other attractions. In the north, there are adorable Gothic cathedrals while in the heart of the country one can visit wonderful Romanesque churches. You shouldn't miss outstanding renaissance castles of the Loire, Dauphnois Museum in Grenoble and the Dordogne's prehistoric cave-paintings.
