A few words about Annecy
Annecy, the capital of the picturesque region of Haute Savoye, is set at a lakeside with magical mountain beauty surrounding. It is a world famous resort, renowned for the charms of scenery and the historical and cultural heritage it shelters.
The town has a long-going background dating back to the time of Roman Gallia. It is built around the river Thiou and has been commonly called Venice because of the many canals cutting through the old town. The city, also known as the seat of Les Comtes de Geneves, has preserved the remains of previous époques and old-times romantic spirits is still sensed along the arcaded streets where once Jean-Jacques Rouseau had his walks and inspiration.

Near the city the dramatic George du Fier, one of the most fascinating sites in the French Alps, offers an astonishing natural spectacle of waters and rocks. Few steps away from the Gorge you will find Chateau de Montrottier. The beautiful castle also shelters a museum of textile, costume and art objects.
The most famous city perspective surely includes the Palais de l'Ile. An amazing building set in the midst of the lake waters, the palace used to serve as a prison in the past. To really know Annecy a visit to the Musee Chateau d'Annecy is a must. The 12th century tower of the building is known as the Queen's Tower and its imposing silhouette dominates the resort. The museum offers various collections, from paintings an sculpture to a section revealing the mysteries of marine life.
